Hello, Fancy Face Friends! I hope you have been enjoying our website. We have so much more exciting stuff in the works and cannot wait to share them with you. We have been receiving an overwhelming response to the website and feel so blessed. From the bottom of our hearts, we could never thank you enough. You are truly making our dreams come true!
On a different note, I have received several e-mails regarding makeup advice. Mainly, what color eye makeup is the best for different eye colors. I was going to address that in this blog. However, after the recent events in Haiti I felt that I would rather discuss that issue and share my feelings and thoughts on that tragedy. I promise in my next blog I will address the makeup advice you have been asking for.
After watching the news for the last week and following the Haiti tragedy I feel many different emotions as I’m sure most of you are. To think that these people were making $2.00 a day for a full 8 hour plus work day before this earthquake blows my mind. That is $14.00 a week! I cannot help but think about the lifestyle in the U.S and so many things we take for granted, that we don’t even realize is a want rather than a need.
I can relate to that personally, as I’m sure many people can! I’ve grown up getting my hair highlighted, haircuts every couple months, having a gym membership, having a personal trainer off and on, buying makeup throughout my life, going out to dinner once or more a week, going to concerts, etc. Then I think about the people in Haiti….to us all those things I mentioned are a norm in the U.S. I don’t own a house, have children to feed or take care of…how do the people in Haiti possibly live off $14.00 a week? With no major bills or children, I probably spend $14.00 a day whether it is spent on gas, food, Starbucks, etc. It truly blows my mind. I know over the last week since this disaster it has truly made me put certain things in perspective.
It is so heartbreaking watching these people in their tents left with nothing from the quake. Materially left with nothing (which I am sure whatever they did have before this tragedy took so much work and time to obtain) but even more heart wrenching is that so many lost their loved ones that can never be replaced. I am so close to my family, they are truly my best friends. I cannot imagine having missing family members and not knowing where they were, or what happened to them with no closure. How do you recover from that?
I watch all these little children who lost their moms, dads, brothers, sisters, grandparents…and a lot of them are so happy they are alive. At the same time they are so heartbroken not knowing what happened to their family members. It is so heart-wrenching. These little children have so much inner-strength.
It is great to see the response from people in the United States. It seems like people are truly stepping up and pulling together to help a community that really needs all the love, help, and support they can get. My heart goes out to Haiti! Let me know your thoughts on this situation…
